Whew, it seems as though it was just December 1, and the staff were arriving for orientation.  Then we all fell into a black hole of frenzied preparations for the winter season.  Somewhere in there was a lot of training, a staff Christmas party, getting the tree up and decorated, two nights of fundraiser dinners for our local volunteer fire department, cabin inspections, and then, poof, it was opening day.  Now the Christmas carols are playing in the Lodge, the chefs are cranking out three amazing meals each day, and the guides are heading out every which way with guests on skis, snowshoes, fat bikes, horses, and snowmobiles.  We have a new draft horse to pull the one horse sleigh, so Allie can get a little break in between outings, and he’s getting his routine down.  There are honeymooners, solo travelers, and multi-generational families here at the ranch–and the place is hopping!

Come Saturday our Christmas guests arrive for a week of festive fun in the snow.  We have an ornament party scheduled for their first night, so they can make decorations to hang on their own tree to kick off the week.  If only we could slow down time here, both for our guests and all of us.  It’s such a special time of year, and it just zooms by way too fast.

We hope you are getting a chance to slow down a minute here and there to appreciate it all.  Happy holidays!
