It is with great excitement that we announce the 2021 recipient of the Elk River Kipper Scholarship. In its second year, we were reminded how difficult it is to select just one winner for this scholarship. The applicants were all wonderful staff members, present and some past, who are setting their sights on pursuing the next step of their careers with a service-minded approach and a passion for excellence.
Jenn Brouder Haak’s application rose to the top for many reasons, and we are so happy to share that she will be receiving $5,000 to put towards studying in Butler University’s Applied Educational Neuroscience Certificate Program.
As a school counselor working with a caseload of children from historically marginalized communities with a wide range of adversity in their lives, Jenn has been inspired to learn more about how to use an applied educational neuroscience framework to better serve her students, their families, and her fellow staff members.
Jenn’s application really struck us on how her experience working at Vista Verde had such a powerful impact in changing her life and trajectory. It is amazing to realize the impact of Vista Verde on our staff, even years after they have worked here.
Although we wish we could grant every applicant a scholarship, we are more than thrilled to know that the Elk River Kipper Scholarship will help one very deserving staff alum advance her career and continue to pay it forward.
