Spring means new life, and it seems that baby chicks are the symbol of that. We’re not sure why they are such an iconic symbol of Spring, but we are going to jump on board the wagon as we all need some brightness in our lives.
With that theme in mind, the management and staff at Vista Verde have developed a theme for the summer of 2020. “Cooped up and Egg-sited!”
If you’ve been dreaming about being at the ranch this summer, now there are even more reasons to be egg-sited!
Mandy is working on our baby chick delivery as this is being written. Apparently even getting baby chicks is impacted by the pandemic right now, so she is trying to figure out the timing of their arrival, and how we will house them. If all goes our way, we will be setting up a coop by every cabin and stocking it with adorable chicks. Mandy has even worked into the kids program schedule coop cleaning time for the kids, as we want them to get a sense of what it takes to raise farm animals. But no worries if you don’t have kids. We will be offering free VVR tshirts to all adult guests who take care of their coops during their stay.
With the growing chicken population at the ranch for this summer, Devyn was the first to jump in with some new program ideas. While Wild Yoga is wildly popular, she will still offer that each week in the aspens. But, for those who like to rise with the rooster, she will be adding a sunrise chicken yoga class by the pool. Bring your chicken and your mat and enjoy a chick-zen experience.
Not to be left out of the egg-sitement, Chol and the chefs saw a great opportunity to cut costs by replacing the very pricey steaks at Steak Ride dinner with leftover chicken parts. So, just for this summer we will be renaming the traditional Steak Ride dinner to the Drumstick Ride. It’s going to be a really wonderful new twist on an old favorite.
As much as we value our horsemanship program, we have been looking for ways to stretch Sam and Mary in their teaching and expand their clinic offerings. After both getting their certificate in chickenship from a very reputable online school this spring they will be offering a new clinic on Wednesdays all about understanding the heart and mind of chickens. We think our guests will find this a compelling compliment to the in-depth horsemanship clinics already being offered. There is just so much more to understanding chickens than we ever thought!
So, if you are feeling Cooped up right now, we hope you can get really Egg-sited for the new changes this summer!
