Note: I asked Catherine to write up a post about our experience partnering with Buffalo Jackson earlier in the summer for a catalog shoot featuring some of the ranch staff. My favorite part of the whole experience was that Catherine somehow talked Bill Backer into modeling for the camera while woodworking. Yes, that gal can be persuasive, and despite all the great things she did in her time at the ranch, this feat may be the one I remember the most.

Earlier in the summer we had some exciting workings going on behind the scenes with Buffalo Jackson, a leather goods and apparel company.
The company initially reached out to us because they were looking to shoot their fall apparel line in an authentically western environment highlighting craftsmen and women who truly delight in their trade. Well, we certainly have a crew of gifted individuals that have many talents in addition to their jobs here at Vista Verde.
The company highlights slogans like #honoryourwild and bases itself around getting men and women into the wilderness with clothing that is stylish, comfortable, and rugged. They also make beautiful leather goods that can be used in the workplace or in the woods.
We set an August date and the photo and video team arrived with trucks packed with jackets, flannels, and leather goods. The shoot was spaced out over three days with time split between capturing the fly fishing guides tying flies and fishing, Bill in his shop crafting wood, and the wranglers getting the herd ready for the day. They also took a handful of other product photos with many others on our team. The best part of it all, everyone who photographed in a product got to take the product home. It was bit like Christmas around here. It was a pleasure working with the team of gifted men in the marketing, photo, and video industry.
You might be surprised to find the faces of Bill Backer, Steph Wilson, Zach Wingo, and many others behind the camera. The company really wanted to capture the real men and woman who have made dude ranching their lifestyle. Many thanks to our wonderful Vista models who took the time to be photographed and to the Buffalo Jackson team for capturing those who keep this place running day after day.
