Ok kids, are your parents driving you crazy trying to get you to do schoolwork at home?
Well, here’s an assignment that might be a bit more fun……there are some lonely horses here at the ranch, and we would like to have you write a letter to them. The old-fashioned kind, with a pen and paper.
For kids in grades K-5, you can draw a picture with a note to your horse. Tell him or her what you remember most about your time together or if you haven’t been to the ranch let us know what would be the most exciting part of having your own horse for the week.
For grades 6-8, we’ll need a little more detail. Paint us a picture with words about a special ride you want to take on your horse. Bring us, as the readers, to that place so we can imagine we are there with you.
We will share what you send with your horse. Although they might be more interested in nibbling on the paper than in reading it, we’ll force them to hear it out. Then, we will send you something from your horse with next steps……
Send your letters to:
Vista Verde Ranch
PO Box 770465
Steamboat Springs, CO 80477
We can’t wait to see them, and share them with your horse!
If you haven’t been to the ranch and need some suggestions who really would like a letter, here is a list of some of the more lonely horses right now:
Captain
Mr. Cool
Cuatro
Penny
Blaze
Quigley
Smokey
Buddy
