This month we’re highlighting an exciting new face around here! Erin Brosterhous joins us as our new Director of Marketing. We sat down for a quick Q&A to learn more about her background and how she ended up here at the ranch. We hope you give her a warm VVR welcome!
Q: What brought you to VVR?
A: Based in Steamboat Springs, I had been consulting in marketing and public relations for a couple of decades. My work and play have always been centered around the outdoors and when I saw the chance to lend my skills and expertise at the ranch, I knew it was an opportunity I wanted to pursue.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit more about your role and what the VVR family (both guests and staff) can expect from you?
A: I oversee the Marketing department, but I specialize in branding and storytelling. I love diving in deep and sharing unique and authentic stories. I am looking forward to getting to know the staff and highlighting who they are and what they do so well. Guests can expect more content that showcases what makes Vista Verde such a special place to be with the ones you love the most.
Q: What was your first impression of VVR?
A: First, I saw the natural beauty and the serene, relaxed environment. But not longer after, I felt the connection the people had with each other. I could sense the strength of the community almost immediately.
Q: How long have you lived in the Steamboat area?
A: Since 1997. We’ve left for a few years for different opportunities (graduate school and jobs), but Steamboat has always drawn us back home.
Q: What is your favorite thing about living in the mountains? What is your favorite season?
A: My favorite thing about living in the mountains is the healthy, active lifestyle. You meet up with your friends on trails and ski runs, not in bars or gyms. I love every season, and as a Colorado native, I think you have to! The truth is my favorite season is summer. I am a June baby, and I try to soak up and be grateful for every warm summer day. When summer begins to wane, I always feel a teeny bit sad, but then the fall always knocks my socks off. I love fall mountain biking season, night rides with my friends, and the blanket of yellow aspen leaves on the trails. Oh…but then it’s ski season! I can’t choose!
Q: When you’re not plugging away at marketing, where can we find you?
A: You can find me on Emerald Mountain, Mt. Werner, or more likely running our two kids to and from soccer or Nordic and biathlon races.
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Denver, Colorado
Q: What are you most excited about doing at VVR? Both recreationally and professionally?
A: I am excited to reconnect with my love of horses. I was a Perry Mansfield summer camper for two summers when I was 11 and 13, and I fell in love with a horse named Rohan. I am excited to ride again and ski the Nordic trails in the wintertime. Professionally, I am excited to be a part of a team and take the VVR brand to the next level while sharing our story far and wide.
Q: What is one thing we all should know about you?
A: I am an excitable, can-do-kind-of person. It’s rare that I think something can’t be done. Rein me in as needed! My door is always open, and I want to hear your ideas.
Q: Anything else you’d like to add?
A: Let’s do this!! 🙌
