With the summer season looming, Zach and Mette are busy interviewing and recruiting the next generation of VVR staff. Do you know someone who might be a great fit? We are looking for both seasonal positions as well as some longer-term positions for those looking for a full-time career in hospitality.
Seasonal positions: These types of positions range from housekeepers to prep cooks and wranglers to ski guides. For these positions in the summer, we are ideally looking for someone who can join us from mid-May until the end of October. However, we do have a few slots for what we call “short season” staff who come mid-May and stay until late-August, and then “late season” staff who arrive in August to finish off the season with us and hopefully return for the winter. In the winter we look for our seasonal staff to be with us from the beginning of December until the end of March. Some staff will stay with us for just one season, and others for many years as they grow in their job and enjoy the long breaks during the off season to explore the world or visit family.
Entry level leadership positions: Part of our mission here at Vista Verde is help develop leaders who will go out into the world to do great things. If you are interested in developing as a leader, we start with placing you in an assistant position in your department, and then help you grow in your skills. This can prime you for a manager-level position either at the ranch or out in the world. These are typically full-time, year-round positions.
Management positions: Although we have a lot of long-time staff in leadership positions, we do sometimes have spots open for someone looking to make hospitality their career. There’s a lot that goes into running this busy ranch with a staff of 60+ people and 100+ horses! Some positions are very behind the scenes, such as Marketing, HR, and Facilities managers, and some are more front and center such as Reservations, Horse Program, and Guide managers. For someone with leadership experience and a specific skill set, it’s always worth reaching out to let us know you’re interested in case one of our leadership positions becomes available.
With all these positions we are looking for people who have a passion for serving others, are open to grow, love the outdoors, and are willing to be a part of a community of people who work hard, live clean, and hold each other accountable to strive for “betterness.”
If you know someone who might be a good fit, please send them Zach’s and Mette’s way to help us put together an all-star team!
