One unexpected result of the pandemic is that more and more people are seeking outdoor experiences that get them away from others. Of course, this has lined Vista Verde up as an ideal destination for an adventure vacation! But this pull has also led to more people heading out into the backcountry, with many of those people having very little backcountry experience.
When we connect our guests and staff with the natural world, we connect them with stillness, simplicity, appreciation, awe, and wonder. Time after time, we see people reconnect with what is most important during these moments, and listen to that still, silent voice for the first time in a long while. Our guides are trained to guide people through the backcountry safely, and we value protecting our public and private lands.
But there is so much to learn and so much to understand about backcountry safety. With that in mind, the Colorado Tourism Office has put together several resources for recreating in the backcountry safely as well as for protecting our wild lands. Many of these tips are not Colorado specific, so if you find yourself seeking out backcountry experiences around you, check out these tips and maybe even take the backcountry pledge!
Of course, you can always just plan a vacation at Vista Verde, and we will guide you through the backcountry. You can choose your adventure, whether it be skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, or riding a horse. And at the end of the day, you will not have to worry about what’s for dinner, as the chefs will have that covered already.
