Spring Break at Colorado’s Vista Verde Ranch
At the tail end of winter, we jump into the wonderful weeks of March that we refer to as our Spring Break weeks. The kids program kicks back into gear and typically the sun is shining and the snow is melty. Having said that, March CAN be our biggest snow month of the year, but even then it’s typically mixed in with warm and sunny days.
Because of the snow conditions during these spring break weeks, our activities can be altered a bit. We tend to sled only in the afternoon as the mornings are too icy and fast (yep, it can actually get too fast!). We may not backcountry ski in the mornings so we can wait until the snow slushes up a bit for easier skiing conditions. But, that hard crust of snow in the morning is perfect for snow biking, skate skiing, and even snow shoeing. The walkways can get a bit muddy, so bring a pair of slippers to slide on as you enter the cozy Lodge. We normally see the driveway go down to dirt, so long afternoon walks are great when the days are longer and the sun is still shining at 5pm. And, when else can you ski in short sleeves and enjoy listening to the birds singing for you?
Explore a Colorado spring break with your family. We can even arrange for you and your family to head into the Steamboat Ski Resort for some amazing spring skiing and snowboarding!
