Vista Verde Ranch, an all-inclusive dude ranch 45 minutes north of Steamboat Springs, boasts privileged access into Routt National Forest, a virtually uninhabited slice of northwest Colorado wilderness connected to the Medicine Bow National Forest, which extends hundreds of miles into central Wyoming. The ranch itself covers 580 acres, with 10 log cabins and various barns and riding complexes set amid a snow-kissed valley dotted with herds of horses, which roam the aspen-lined edges of the national forest.
