Dear Vista Verde Staff:
I would love to surprise my husband, Gary, with a quick getaway week-end. He works very hard all year long. He is one of the physician’s for the Indianapolis Colts, so I see very little of him starting from the first week of Mini Camp, in July, through the NFL Combine which is the last week of February. He loves winter sports and does not have the time to enjoy them.
I would start the first day with a brush up on riding in the arena, followed by lunch. Gary and I have always wanted to do a two hour horseback ride in the snow ever since we say the snow scenes in the movie “The Man From Snowy River”. The ride would be followed by a cup of hot chocolate and a sleigh ride. Then after a gourmet dinner, we would love to do the night skiing or the snowshoe trek.
The second day, I would start out with a yoga class; Gary would sit by the fire reading a book. After lunch, we would try our hand at cross country skiing. Maybe the photographer, Carla Jones, would join us. Her website wildlife photos are amazing, and maybe she could show me how to get snow landscaping shots—I am a professional photographer, and need tips on white balancing and f-stops when exposing for the snow. Gary actually has a great eye when using his point and shoot camera. Next we would experience a couples massage (my husband has never have one—maybe hot stones), then we would plant ourselves next to the fireplace with a great bottle of wine enjoying the quiet and the solitude of the scenery, followed by a great gourmet dinner.
The third day we might go off ranch for the dog sledding, and then come back for a gourmet cooking class and wine tasting.
But, I left out sledding, snowmobiling, fly fishing, downhill skiing, and more. I quess we will need to come back!
I could not find a "we picture", so I think it is time to concentrate on a romantic getaway!!!
