I am a folk artist. I do primitive paintings in the style of Grandma Moses. Most of the time I paint farm scenes of old houses, barns, ponds, and people feeding chickens, plowing ground, herding sheep, dogs, cats, et al. Many of my paintings are winter scenes, skating, sledding, sleighrides, cutting wood, snowfall. When I am painting, I oftentimes picture myself actually living in that painting. And then I come back to reality and realize I would miss the internet, electricity, indoor plumbing, propane, and my car and truck.
If I were at your ranch in the winter, I would love to ride horses in the snow, and I would like to try out some snowshoes. And I am sure I would be inspired by the sheer majesty of the West.
If I were at your ranch, we could surely talk horses. I have had a horse for forty years. Not the same horse, of course. During my young adult years I worked for the Steyskal’s in Omaha…they have been on the leading breeder’s list of AQ Performance horses for several decades. Their foundation sire Tiger Leo, a son of Leo, was a cutting horse and sired many AQHA champions, NCHA performers, etc. I have been fortunate to have gotten many nice horses from them, including my current horse, 15 yrs old, I have had since a weaner. I showed him in Pleasure and Trail, he has over 70 points. Nowadays I live in beautiful Pennsylvania, and enjoy trail riding and just showing locally at the little open shows.
If I were at your ranch I would enjoy your fine food, meeting you and other guests, reading, and maybe riding snowmobiles if you had them. I would like to see what the wild creatures…elk, deer, cougars, birds to in the deep snows of winter.
If I were to win the vacation, I would bring my sister. She and her family went to a guest ranch in Salmon Idaho many times, and she still talks about it, to this day. And so I would like to experience the same.
below are two pictures, one of one of my paintings, the other of my horse.
