Vista Verde Ranch
We want to congratulate you on keeping the VVR the same high quality "resort" it has been for so many years. Incidentally it was our 5th Christmas at the ranch. Everything is just the same, if not better. Most memorable of all is the consistent kindness of you all, the staff! With many thanks to all the staff for all they do.

Adult Weeks

When the evenings get a bit cooler and the rivers run a little lower, the aspens start to gear up for a fall color extravaganza and the elk move back in. As these magical, natural events begin to happen, another magical event happens at Vista Verde- the ranch turns into an adult only playground. Just think, the kids are all back in school! You won't be bothered by phones ringing off the hook. The only traffic jam you'll run into is when the horses are being moved from one pasture to the next, and the biggest decision you'll have to make for a day is whether you want to fish, horseback ride or go for a scenic hike.
In the winter months, there are plenty of adult only times too.  The snow is piled high, as is the staff to guest ratio!

After skiing hard or just a long day of reading in front of the fire, evenings are a pleasure with leisurely dinners and great conversation.

The ranch is generally adults only in September and from just after New Years until President's Weekend.  Please call for exact dates.

Fall Cattle Gather

Those of you who have been following the story of Vista Verde for years will remember that we used to offer a spring and fall cattle drive. At one point it became more logical to pasture a different kind of cattle at the ranch for the summer, which logistically took away our ability to offer the cattle drive. Although we've been having a whole lot more fun with these different kind of cows, we kept wondering how to bring back the intense cowboy (and cowgirl) experience. We found it in a relationship with a local rancher and a BIG chunk of land just south of the ranch. Starting in the Fall of 2010, we will introduce Cowboy week. Guests will spend the first couple days of the week working in the arena and honing their horsemanship and cattle working skills. After that, we'll head out for some serious all-day rides to gather the cattle. This is a long process as they scatter all over the many thousand acres of summer pasture. Because there are so many cattle to gather, the week will be offered twice. September 12-19 will be headed up by Colorado rancher and horse trainer Jeff Wahlert. September 19-26 will be headed up by our own Terry Wegener. If you've wanted to experience the real deal, this is it!
