Ben was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he was one of 49 grandchildren in his family. He went on to college and received a Marketing degree from Messiah College in 1988. There, he participated in soccer and track. He then went on to play professional indoor soccer for two years. Ben went back to college to pursue his Master’s degree in Youth and Family Studies at Denver Seminary. He proceeded to then use that degree to work with high school students until getting into the guest ranching industry; he has worked with guest ranches for the past 15 years. In Ben’s free time, he enjoys watching sporting events. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Holly and the two of their four kids still at home, Annie and Jack. Chelsea will be a senior this fall at Colorado State University and Amanda is living happily with her husband, David Gillie.

Charlie has been in the Colorado area since he was 24 years old and gradually worked his way up to Clark. Charlie has been a part of the VVR team since the late-90′s and quietly keeps the ranch running as the master organizer of our team. He and his wife Barb enjoy spending time with their two grandkids, as well as road biking. Charlie rides a brown 1974 Motobécane and his wife rides a silver 1975 Motobécane. He also enjoys barbeques outside on the patio of the timber frame house he built looking out on Farwell Mountain.

Steph has been employed at Vista Verde since 1997, where she takes care of all things related to making your experience as wonderful as possible at the ranch. Though Steph is a California native, she has never surfed and has a distaste for fish. As a mother of two, Steph loves to spend time with her daughters, as well as ride horses, mountain bike, practice yoga, and ski. Steph’s husband is a former Olympic skier and now coaches ski jumpers in Steamboat Springs.

Bill has been around Vista Verde for almost 22 years now! In his free time, Bill enjoys fixing up old, damaged cars and is also very skilled at making furniture. Much of the furniture located amongst the ranch’s cabins was created by Bill. The way to Bill’s heart is definitely through his stomach; Bill absolutely loves pies. His favorite is rhubarb pie!

Nate is in a new role this Summer as Safety Manager and assisting as a guide. A few of his hobbies include hiking, playing softball, dancing, and horseback riding; Nate really enjoys playing on Vista Verde’s intramural softball team during the summer and volleyball during the winter! For his first job, Nate was involved in restoring a 1939 Cadillac LaSalle. Lastly, Nate is a volunteer with North Routt Fire Department as an EMT and Firefighter type 2.

Beka studied Child and Family Development at the University of Georgia before meandering out west to the beautiful Colorado area. She is an avid traveler, having been to 17 different countries. She also just finished the “El Camino de Santiago” this past off season; this adventure entails 30 days of hiking across Spain. Beka loves avocados, as well as bonfires, summertime, running, yoga, fishing, horseback riding, and camping.

Meagan has worn a few different hats during her time at Vista Verde. She may have made you a latte in the dining room or played with your kids all day long in the Kid's hut. Now, you'll hear her voice on the other end of the phone or be welcomed by her when you walk into the Lodge. Living in the Rockies has been a lifelong dream of this Georgia Peach, but she also loves to travel around the world. She's already been to 19 countries in her first quarter of a century. One trip she would recommend to everyone is the ``El Camino de Santiago.`` She believes it's the perfect combination of adventure and community. Another dream of her's is to one day have a Husky named Russkiy that she can take on hikes through the Zirkel Wilderness.

Trish is originally from Rhode Island, but has called the Steamboat area home for ten years now. She met her husband in Steamboat and they enjoy everything this beautiful valley has to offer. Trish has a strong background in the hospitality industry and feels fortunate to utilize her skills here at Vista Verde and working in the office. Through her company, Grateful Heart Massage Therapy, Trish offers theraputic massage to guests here at the ranch. Her goal is to assist guests enjoy all Vista Verde has to offer by facilitating muscle recovery and relaxations with various therapeutic massage techniques.

Devyn is thrilled to return to the ranch after being away for 6 months. She was a Lagree Fitness instructor (a Pilates method) in Austin, TX. This Colorado native loves the majesty and quiet of the mountains, to sing and play guitar, to cook and to get outside to exercise! Devyn is looking forward to learning how to fly fish this summer. Fun Fact: Devyn's favorite thing to do is to sing the National Anthem at rodeos and sporting events.

Melanie recently graduated from Biola University with a degree in Sociology, and hopes to pursue a Masters in Social Work or Public Health in the near future. She has a heart for social justice, especially since returning from a mission’s trip to Kenya last summer where she wishes to return sometime within the next year! Mel loves the beach, paddle boarding, sand castle building, beach volleyball; and she can’t wait to find more outdoor hobbies this summer in Colorado!

Brandon had hobbies before kids, but now his favorite past time is spending time with Wyatt (2 yrs) and Scottlyn (9 mo.), and his lovely wife, Rachelle. Occasionally, he still finds time to get some fly fishing and backcountry skiing in, though!

Javin loves to spend his weekends hanging out with his wife, Johanna. They enjoy being outside, eating great food, watching movies and working on their property. Javin is skilled at welding, has a degree in diesel mechanics and can figure out how to fix anything you put in front of him. We are very lucky to have him back for the second time around here at Vista Verde.

On the bright and hopeful day of October 16, Tim Phillips was born into this world. Since then lots of great things have happened, memories made, and now he is living his dream here at Vista Verde! Previous to coming to the ranch, he was working at Cabela’s and the historic Waco Hippodrome theater. Being from the great state of Texas, Tim is excited to get out the the dish pit and have some fun adventures in the sun!

In his first time at the ranch, Dan met and fell in love with his now wife, Stacy. After being away from the Steamboat Springs area for several years they have deciced to return to the mountains! He and his wife enjoy hiking together. Dan also enjoys fishing, good food and good wine. We are so happy to have Dan back at the ranch this summer.

Ted is a recent graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in economics. An avid sportsman, he enjoys bow hunting in the fall and winter. During the warmers months he can be found with a fishing rod in hand, chasing anything that swims. He also enjoys hiking and a not-so fun fact: he is allergic to peanuts.

Matthew recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement & Psychology; in the near future, he plans to be a police officer. He knows how to work hard and that mentality gained him the nickname “Bulldog.” He’s a happy guy when he is outdoors and likes to be around dogs and horses. One of his favorite principles is “paying it forward.” We are so happy to have his mentality on the ranch and for his third season at VVR!
