Terry is our head trainer here on the ranch, he has over 30 years of experience with horses. He specializes in Reining, and Working Cowhorses. He is also an approved judge for Reining and Ranch Versatility. Annie, his wife, rides and trains Thunder for the Denver Broncos. He loves riding, teaching, and training here at VVR. He is always available to answer any horsemanship questions you may have, as well as to share a good laugh.
John, our head wrangler, joins us for his 6th season on the ranch. He hails from Fulda, MN and loves working and playing in the great outdoors. His adventurous personality, dedication to work, and love for serving others makes him a perfect part of our crew. John is a recent graduate of a Ferrier School in Minneapolis, and ensures that all our horses are perfectly shoed, who doesn’t love a new pair of shoes!
Nicky works alongside Terry training some of the younger stock and newborn foals. During college, she was a part of the equestrian team at the University of Indianapolis. You will probably see her dog Sydney darting around the ranch, likely playing with her cat, Cash.
Since a little girl at the age of 5, Annie has been riding horses. Annie earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology and applies it to teaching, riding, and shoeing horses. Her shoeing business over the years evolved into training young and problem horses, while teaching riding to all ages. Growing up in Montana, it was always a dream of hers to ride in the mountains.
Baylee Blackburn, easily recognized by her warm smile, joins VVR from Noblesville, IN. A student, musician, and athlete, Baylee does it all. She is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where she is studying Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management. In her free time she coaches lacrosse, as well as plays guitar and violin.
An authentic western mustache, country dance moves, and Texas roots earn Nate the title of “true Texas cowboy.” He has a genuine passion for horses and lots of knowledge to share. His social attitude and adventurous personality guarantee an awesome trail ride.
Before coming to Vista Verde, Eric had the unique opportunity to work as an equine trainer at Disney Land. His passions include both riding & training horses, as well as team roping. A true Southern Californian, you may see him wearing a winter jacket in the middle of summer.
Maureen joins us this summer from Plymouth, MN. For the past two years, Maureen has been living in Mexico working on a mission project. She has a degree in Child and Family Counseling, as well as a certificate in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. Maureen is famous on the ranch for her baking skills, in the evenings you can find many of the staff in her kitchen hoping for a taste.
