Ben is the General Manager here on the ranch. He and his wife Holly have four children ranging in ages from 11 to 25 years old: Amanda, Chelsea, Annie, and Jack. He hails from Lancaster County, PA. In the past he has worked as a professional soccer player, head wrangler, and foreman at another Colorado ranch. He also has experience working with high school kids in Denver. Ben is a crucial component to operations here on the ranch, and we appreciate all that he does for us.
Charlie is our Director of Operations. He is responsible for preserving (as well as enhancing!) all that VVR is – the meadows, pastures, forest, and such. Charlie is originally from the Catskill Mountain area of New York, and has grown up in the resort business. He earned a degree in Hotel Management, and has worked for several large motel chains in the past. Charlie joined us eleven years ago after working for another ranch down the road. We are certainly delighted to have his continuing support.
Stephanie is one of our year-round staff members, and is our Director of Hospitality. She has a degree in Agricultural and Managerial Economics from the University of California at Davis. She is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area where she developed a deep love of horses. She has a background in both horse training, and breeding programs. In addition to all she does here at VVR, she also spends her time raising her two daughters Maggie and Ella with her husband Todd. We are ever grateful for all the hard work she does to ensure our guests have a meaningful experience here on the ranch.
Bill is our properties manager, and is responsible for both the facilities and equipment here on the ranch (In other words-everything that squeaks, leaks, or breaks). He holds a degree in Biology from Southwest State University, and has been a helping hand on the ranch for the last 20 years. Additionally, Bill is our resident artisan, he builds a lot of our furniture and is into authentic reproductions. We are certainly thankful for his wide range of applicable skills he offers to us here at VVR.
Melissa is our friendly first contact here at VVR. She manages all our reservations, and ensures guests are guaranteed an amazing experience here on the ranch. Melissa hails from Sequim, WA. She earned a degree in Business Marketing with a minor in Studio Art from Linfield College. She enjoys hiking, painting, drawing, and being outdoors. Traveling is also another one of her past times, she has spent time in France, Peru, and Hawaii. This will be her fifth season here on the ranch, as always we welcome her back with open arms.
Alaya is our Executive Team Assistant here on the ranch, she does a lot of work for us of which we are very thankful for. She hails from Montpelier, VT and has spent several seasons working with us here at VVR. Her passions include dance, food, and sustainable agriculture. She also enjoys to read on her time off. Her and her husband Cholly, the Executive Chef, are currently expecting their first child together this coming fall. She is a great resource to us here on the ranch, and she loves living and working here.
Beka began working at VVR in 2009 and has not been able to stay away for long since then. This season she is coordinating activities and helping out in the office. She spent the last year doing mission work and traveling around Asia, Africa, and Europe. Beka grew up in Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Child and Family Development. She loves running, hiking, biking, camping, and pretty much anything else that allows her to be outdoors. If you’re up early enough, you may see her on a morning run around the ranch.
Lucy is joining us for her first season here at VVR. She will be working with ranch operations at the front desk. She hails from Arlington, VA, and is a recent graduate of the University of New Hampshire where she earned a degree in Sociology with minors in Psychology, and Sustainable Living. She is a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, running, practicing yoga, and playing with all the animals here on the ranch. We are excited to have her out here for the summer season!
Malori is joining us for her 3rd season here on the ranch. She will be working in ranch operations, as well as serving in our dining room. She is from Colorado Springs, CO and has a degree in International Business and Spanish. This May she hiked 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago in Spain. She enjoys participating in triathlons, fly fishing, hiking, traveling, and going to music festivals in her time off. We are excited to have her back as she has be an integral part of the VVR community.
Carson is the head ranch hand here at VVR. He is from Peru, IN, and in the last 6 months has enjoyed spending time outside in all the snow. His hobbies include camping, snowboarding, zip lining, and fishing. He also loves to travel, in fact he recently got back from a trip to Belize where he spent 2 weeks caving, snorkeling, canoeing, and sailing. He has spent time in Haiti and Africa too. Always a hard worker, we are thrilled to have his continuous help with the upkeep of our beautiful ranch.
Troy will be working as a ranch hand this summer. He grew up raising horses, and has a lot to offer both the staff and guests about horsemanship. He was born and raised in Coldwater, MI. This will be his first season here at VVR. His interests include machine maintenance and operation. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing.
Sam is a ranch hand here at VVR. Like several of our staff members, he is from Carmel, IN. He is currently working towards a degree in Chemistry at Indiana University. He hopes to become a dentist in the future. He is an avid outdoorsman, likes to play basketball, as well as relax on the porches and just enjoy life’s simple pleasures. He is most excited to work with our diverse staff this summer.
Brandon works in Ranch Operations here at VVR. Originally from Cheyenne Wells, CO, he grew up helping his family run their ranch. He is a graduate of Front Range Community College where he earned a degree in Natural Resource Fisheries and Wildlife. Before joining us on the ranch he worked at Copper Mountain Resort, he is an avid snowboarder. If you are ever in need of a good movie he is your go-to guy, he has quite the impressive movie collection.
Madison O’Neil, from Kutztown, PA, will be one of our new ranch hands this summer. While Madison knows how to get his hands dirty, he also has an eye for art. He graduated this May with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Ask him about the children’s book he is writing called, “Just Scribbles you Say?” As a former guest, Madison is excited to join the VVR team on the other side.
Sarah is one of our exceptional ranch hands here on the ranch this season. Originally from Peru, IN, she has spent the last 6 months student teaching an 8th grade English class. She graduated from Ball State University with a degree in English Education. She loves music and in her free time enjoys playing the ukulele, which she taught herself. She is also an avid traveler; she has been to over 8 different countries. She is the older sister of another one of our staff members, Carson Reese. She is very excited to get to know all the guests here throughout their stay.
Ryan will be working as a ranch hand this season. He hails from Colorado Springs, CO. In the past he has worked at a Chick-fil-a in Maryland. He enjoys rock climbing, hiking, traveling, running, and studying Spanish. Ryan is a hard worker, and we are quite happy he chose to become part of our staff this summer season!
