Ben was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he was one of 49 grandchildren in his family. He went on to college and received a Marketing degree from Messiah College in 1988. There, he participated in soccer and track. He then went on to play professional indoor soccer for two years. Ben went back to college to pursue his Master’s degree in Youth and Family Studies at Denver Seminary. He proceeded to then use that degree to work with high school students until getting into the guest ranching industry; he has worked with guest ranches for the past 15 years. In Ben’s free time, he enjoys watching sporting events and spending time with his wife, Holly and two of their four kids still at home, Annie and Jack. Chelsea will be a senior this fall at Colorado State University and Amanda is living happily with her husband, David Gillie.
Charlie still is filling out his bucket list items; so if any one knows some good ones they should share with him! He loves being in the same town with his two young grand kids, Grayson and Charlotte– he has one day a week to spoil them without their parents around! During the winter Charlie enjoys showing his wife, Barb, how to snowshoe properly. She is in turn sharing the secrets of telemark turns (one of his bucket list items)! Charlie also love sun rises over the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness as well as alpen glow sunsets!
Steph has been employed at Vista Verde since 1997, where she takes care of all things related to making your experience as wonderful as possible at the ranch. Though Steph is a California native, she has never surfed and is actually terrified of fish. As a mother of two, Steph loves to spend time with her daughters, as well as ride horses, mountain bike, participate in yoga, and ski. Steph’s husband is a former Olympic skier and now coaches ski jumpers right on the mountains in Steamboat Springs. She has plenty of horse riding experience, having formerly been in the Arabian Horse Show worlds.
Bill has been around Vista Verde for almost 22 years now! In his free time, Bill enjoys fixing up old, damaged cars and is also very skilled at making furniture. Much of the furniture located amongst the ranch’s cabins was created by Bill. The way to Bill’s heart is definitely through his stomach; Bill absolutely loves pies. His favorite is rhubarb pie!
Beka studied Child and Family Development at the University of Georgia before meandering out west to the beautiful Colorado area. She is an avid traveler, having been to almost 20 different countries. She just finished a hiking trip in Patagonia. Her favorite things to do are to spending time with friends and enjoying the gorgeous outdoors! Beka loves avocados, as well as bonfires, crocheting, laughing, reading, cooking, skiing, running, fishing, baking, horseback riding, and camping.
Trish is originally from Rhode Island, but has called the Steamboat area home for ten years now. She met her husband in Steamboat and they enjoy everything this beautiful valley has to offer. Trish has a strong background in the hospitality industry and feels fortunate to utilize her skills here at Vista Verde and working in the office. Through her company, Grateful Heart Massage Therapy, Trish offers theraputic massage to guests here at the ranch. Her goal is to assist guests enjoy all Vista Verde has to offer by facilitating muscle recovery and relaxations with various therapeutic massage techniques.
A Colorado native, Malori grew up playing in the Rocky Mountains. True to her home, she loves hiking, fly fishing, lots of sunshine, and bluegrass music. She has a degree in International Business and Spanish and before coming to the Ranch she had an internship with the Mayor’s Office in Colorado Springs learning about small business sustainability. These days, she is squeezing in as much travel as she can manage to places like Thailand, Morocco, Spain, and Switzerland. Somewhere along the way, she plans to learn to play the banjo, work with senior citizens, and have a big garden.
This is Kerri’s fifth season at Vista Verde Ranch. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design a couple years back, she realized the fast-paced life is not for her. She spends her time between breathing in the Rocky Mountain air at the ranch and working on her family’s grain farm back in Indiana. You can usually find her line dancing, traveling, reading, shooting, or looking for any live country music shows! Her goal this winter is to get in as much backcountry skiing as possible!
This is Erica’s fourth season running the kid’s program at Vista Verde. Before living on the ranch, Erica was completing her Masters in Education at CU in Boulder. When she is not working, you can usually find her practicing yoga, walking her dogs, or reading a good book. She also enjoys backcountry skiing and taste-testing artful dishes created by her husband, Chef John. To prepare for the snow and winter season, Erica and John camped across the island of Kauai for a week to soak up the sun!
Taryn is from Boise, Idaho, although she has been in the beautiful state of Colorado since 2009. Taryn graduated from Colorado State University in December 2013 with a degree in International Studies & Spanish. She spent this summer traveling through Europe and working with horses! She loves horses and cannot wait to ride at Vista Verde this winter every chance she gets. In her free time, Taryn loves to read, watch movies, sing, musical theater, and ski!

Brandon had hobbies before kids, but now his favorite past time is spending time with Wyatt (2 yrs) and Scottlyn (9 mo.), and his lovely wife, Rachelle. occasionally, he still finds time to get some fly fishing and backcountry skiing in, though!
Javin loves to spend his weekends hanging out with his wife, Johanna. They enjoy being outside, eating great food, watching movies, and working on their property. Javin is skilled at welding, has a degree in diesel mechanics and can figure out how to fix anything you put in front of him. We are very lucky to have him back at the ranch making sure all our equipment works properly!
Matthew recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement & Psychology; in the near future, he plans to be a police officer. He knows how to work hard and that mentality gained him the nickname “Bulldog.” He’s a happy guy when he is outdoors and likes to be around dogs and horses. One of his favorite principles is “paying it forward.” We are glad to have his positive mentality back for a second season!
Neil has a degree in Mathematics and Economics from Indiana University. Some of his hobbies consist of running, reading, napping, beekeeping, and drinking coffee. Before landing at Vista Verde, he worked on a farm in Indiana and also at an IT company in downtown Chicago. Neil is very excited to switch lifestyles from hectic, city life to our rustic, rural community
This is Ryan’s second season at VVR and we are thrilled to steal him from his beloved state of Texas. Ryan’s favorite winter activities are downhill skiing and snowmobiling. He is a people person and enjoy spending time with others. Ryan’s hobbies include playing guitar, being active in the great outdoors, and eating ice cream by the gallon!
Rachel has an interest in travel, experiencing new things, and meeting new people, which is a perfect fit for VVR! She has an array of interests including snowboarding, motorcycles, outdoors, Jesus, and the piano! Rachel enjoys to be around great friends and create awesome memories. Her passion for motorcycles has lead her to chase her dream of becoming a professional motorcycle road racer. She believes that anything is achievable if you put your heart and mind to it!
