What is the worst pet you have ever had? For a science fair project in 6th grade I was growing a few different plants and I thought it would be a great idea to purchase some pet worms. I borrowed my science teacher’s catalog and ordered about 100 earthworms. When they finally arrived I dumped them into the potted plants, watered them, and went to bed. I woke up the next morning to my mom screaming like crazy: dozens of earthworms crawled out overnight and were all over the living room carpet…it was a messy situation.
Do you have any strange phobias? I have a terrible phobia of E.T. from Steven Spielberg’s movie. I am not sure how this developed, but I am guessing it is because my big sister made me watch it with her when I was four years old. To this day, if I see an image of E.T. I completely lose it! The irony of the situation is, once I married my husband a few years back, I took his last name, Thompson – now my initials are E.T.

What are three things still left on your bucket list? Three things left on my list are: skydiving, train a horse from when it is a baby, to when it has become well trained, and travel to Santorini, Greece. I have seen pictures of it and seen it in movies and it looks like such a beautiful place. The water is so clear and the houses are wonderfully built on the sides of mountains. I think it would be a very spectacular place to visit!
What really gives you the creeps? The two things that creep me out the most are spiders and snakes. I definitely can tolerate snakes more than spiders, because usually I will only see a snake outside in the grass or in the woods. But spiders, well they could be anywhere, at any time! How creepy is that? You never know when one might pop out!
Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school? In high school my friends thought it would be funny to sing “bah bah Blackburn have you any wool.” Although that “nickname” doesn’t sound too bad, after hearing it a hundred times, it does become less and less appealing…

What are three things still left on your bucket list? Have a campfire on the beach, see killer whales in the San Juan Islands and play soccer with a field full of kids in Africa.

What was the worst punishment you ever received at school? In elementary school we used a magnet system for behavior: moving up was a reward for good behavior, and moving down was for bad behavior. I had to move my magnet down for something in third grade. I don’t remember what it was for, but I’m pretty sure I never did it again.
What is the worst pet you have ever had? When I was little my family had a pet rat. He was named Splinter, after the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character. I played with him when I was little…but owning another pet rat is definitely not on my to-do list!
