Vista Verde Quarter Horses

Vista Verde began breeding horses in 2009. Our objective is to make versatile, sound minded, people-loving horses that are also really good looking and pretty! So far, we are right on track. Our foals come from championship bloodlines in both the reigning and cow competition worlds. Even our horses are no less than 4 diamond quality! Here are some fun facts about our breeding program.

2010

2011

In 2010, we bred our own mares to our very own stallion, “Whiskey” He was only 3 years old at this time, but did a great job of siring two beautiful filly’s.

Here is a little information about our stallion, Whiskey. He was purchased from “Circle T Ranch” in Bellaire, Texas. His sire is CTR Peptolena and his dam is a daughter of Paddy’s Irish Whiskey.

His Sire:
“Peptoboonsmal, 1995 NCHA Futurity Open Champion, has sired money earning foals with total earnings of over $16,500,000.

Any discussion of Peptoboonsmal’s foals should prominently mention his dam, Royal Blue Boon. She ranks as the No. 1 All-Time dam by a wide margin with 17 foals that have earned more than $2.5 million. That tops the combined earnings produced by any other dam by more than $1 million.”

Whiskey’s dam, RB Paddy’s Surfine, has quite the lineage as well. Check this out about her sire line:

“Paddys Irish Whiskey was a 2008 Equi-Stat Leading Cutting Maternal Grandsire, whose daughters have produced 33 money-earners totaling $363,000 and averaged more than $11,000 in cutting, reining, reined cowhorse, ranch horse and roping events.”

2012

Enter our Jr. Stallion, Gunshy Gangster, or “Gunny” as we call him.  He had his first breeding season summer of 2011, and spring of 2012 we had foals everywhere!  Here is the result of that season.

Gunny comes from a strong family as well, here’s a look at his Sire, Gangster Chic:

Here’s a list of all of our broodmares. They come from pretty great bloodlines and make wonderful crosses with our stallions. We’re pretty proud of these girls, they do a lot of hard work for us.

If you’re curious about CT Reyn Mann, and why we have so many of his daughters making foals for us, feel free to ask Terry about this horse. It was his all-time favorite, most winningest stallion he ever owned. CT Reyn Mann passed away a few years ago, but his legacy lives on in the breeding program here at Vista Verde!
